Once upon a time, back in 16th-century in France, people celebrated New Year's Day on March 25th, the advent of spring. But In 1564, Gregorian, King Charles IX changed the law. The law was that New Year's Day should be celebrated on January 1st instead of in the spring. But the diehard conservatives resisted the change .They still celebrated the New Year’s Day from March 25 to April 1. As a result, some French mocked these people by sending them foolish gifts and invitations.
